Observation on #DOING BUSINESS, 2015 in #TANZANIA by GICC's CEO

The Doing Business 2015 ranks Tanzania ahead of Kenya & Uganda

The Doing Business 2015  portrays Tanzania’s Ease of Doing Business rank (out of 189 economies) as  131 (2014 being 130) while the distance to frontier (DTF)** measure, overall and by topic shows Tanzania to be 56.38 (2014 was  55.82) .

Starting a Business is shown as 124^th rank (having dropped by 6 positions), Dealing with Construction Permits to 169^th rank, Getting Electricity to 87^th (rank having dropped by 2 positions).

In Registering Property, Getting Credit and Protecting Minority Investors, Paying Taxes once again Tanzania’s rank has been shown dropping.

The only area that has been shown positively is Trading Across Borders – the rank having risen from 137^th from 139^th while there has been no change in Enforcing Contracts rank having stayed at 45^th position.

However Comparatively Tanzania has performed much better as Kenya stands at 136^th rank , Uganda stands 150th rank  & Malawi stands at 164^th rank

Ms. Shainul Bhanji, the Promoter & CEO of Global Investors Consultation Centre (GICC/EA) observing  the report noted that our Tanzania’s leadership has been making tremendous efforts to boost its FDI. The country’s President, The Prime Minister’s office, TIC, EPZA, TNBC  & various government stakeholders need to be applauded.
